Beckett & Raeder, Inc. (BRI) was contracted by Resort Township to update their Parks & Recreation Master Plan in 2025. Consistent with MDNR requirements, BRI team members structured the report to include a community description, overview of the Township's administrative structure, recreation inventory, summary of community engagement findings, and an implementation plan.

At the time of writing the report, there were 13 recreational facilities in the Township, including a portion of the Little Traverse Wheelway and various parks, water access points, and other recreational points of interest. BRI conducted public engagement by releasing a community-wide survey, which prompted respondents to share their opinions on the existing and future conditions of the Township's parks and recreation system. Themes that emerged from the survey included requests for improved trail and non-motorized path connections as well as additional water access points.

Pulling from each of the report's individual chapters, the implementation plan was the culminating chapter of the report. Goals in the implementation plan included increasing awareness of the parks and recreation system, improving current facilities, developing more non-motorized pathways, and acquiring more land for future recreational spaces. Action items in the implementation plan included developing improved park signage, adding ADA features to current facilities, strengthening or creating links between existing non-motorized pathways, and acquiring land adjacent to existing parks for future recreational spaces.

The updated Parks & Recreation Master Plan was adopted in January 2026, allowing Resort Township to remain eligible for future MDNR grants and funding.
