About the Company
We apply our design, planning and engineering expertise to make great places.
For more than 50 years, our collaborative team of landscape architecture, planning, engineering and environmental professionals have worked with clients to create beautiful, lasting designs and establish goals and plans for communities to flourish. As a multi-disciplinary team, we are able to approach projects more holistically, drawing on each other's expertise to find creative and viable solutions for our clients.
Our diverse skill set allows us to take on a range of work from placemaking to neighborhood design, streetscapes to master plans and native landscapes to LEED Certification. We strive to meet the needs of stakeholders with ecological sensitivity and economic sensibility. Whether the project is a private courtyard, a municipal park or a regional master plan, our team tackles each new venture with passion and dedication.
History
Beckett & Raeder, Inc. was founded in 1966 as a partnership between John M. Beckett and J. Paul Raeder in Ann Arbor, Michigan. That year they received their first major commission: a master landscape development plan for the University of Michigan Medical Center.
In the 1970s and early 1980s, the firm continued to expand its client base and its geographical area of work. While the major focus remained in southeastern Michigan, the firm has completed individual projects in virtually every region of Michigan and in more than 25 other states.
Today, Beckett & Raeder, Inc. provides award-winning and innovative professional service to a variety of municipal governments, state and federal agencies, institutions and private sector clients.
The Ann Arbor office is located inside the historic Argus Building.
