Saline Area Schools
Beckett & Raeder, Inc. was responsible for all site development
for the new Saline Area Schools campus. The new campus included
a site of approximately 250 acres to accommodate a new high school
and elementary school.
Site development for the schools included parking, walks, and landscaping
for the high school and elementary school, and a new athletic campus
for the high school. This campus included a new synthetic turf football
field and separate new soccer and track and field facility, both
with bleachers and served by a common press box. Also included are
varsity and practice baseball and softball facilities including
bleachers for each. Additionally, separate fields were planned for
physical education use. Other site improvements included playground
facilities for the elementary school.
Infrastructure improvements included engineering of sanitary and
water utilities to the site, a stormwater detention system, and
a new public road network within the campus. The stormwater system
was engineered in accord with the rules and regulations of the Washtenaw
County Drain Commissioner and included a native planting scheme
within the detention areas. The road network was engineered in cooperation
with the Washtenaw County Road Commissioner, and included measures
to address the need for traffic calming within the site. Specifically,
some of these measures included the first two roundabouts to be
constructed in Washtenaw County, attention to site signing, and
bicycle and pedestrian accommodations.
