Beckett & Raeder, Inc. was retained as the Site Consultant for the design of the new Kent Lake Elementary School. Landscape Architectural and Civil Engineering services included Conceptual Design through Construction Documents and Construction Administration Services.

The 60,000 square foot Elementary School is located on 23 acres of land in the northwesterly portion of South Lyon Township. The site is located on a reclaimed gravel quarry and is tucked in between a 30 acre lake and a substantial wetland area. The proposed site plan has been carefully worked out to protect and buffer the wetland zone and take advantage of the dramatic views, and educational opportunities of both the lake and wetland corridor.

Separation of vehicular traffic was a key requirement in the development of the facility. Separate bus and dedicated parent drop-off areas have been provided minimizing any potential conflict between vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Additional features include parent, staff, visitor, and service parking, playground areas, interpretative trails and teaching pavilion within the wetland area, exterior signage, landscape, and irrigation.
