Eastern Michigan University

Beckett & Raeder, Inc. has provided a broad range of master planning, site design and site engineering services on the college's main campus, downtown business school, the housing program, and the athletic campus for over 15 years. BRI updated the Master Plan for Main Campus in 1994, and developed a land use plan for linking West Campus and Main Campus. Establishing guidelines for campus land use, growth, property acquisition, pedestrian and vehicular circulation, community relationships, parking, infrastructure and campus environment, these services have guided the relocation of existing buildings and parking lots, the addition of new facilities, and have guided the capital improvements program and State of Michigan funding requests.

BRI has provided site planning and engineering for over a dozen new or renovated campus facilities including the relocated Physical Plant, the new Halle Library, College of Education, the College of Health and Human Services, renovated McKenny Union, renovated Pease Auditorium, renovated Sherzer Hall, renovated Boone Hall, Oestrike Baseball Stadium, Rynearson Stadium, the new Convocation Center, the Village, the University House, a new softball complex and are currently embarking on design of a new Student Union centrally located on the campus. Additionally, we have provided site planning and engineering for the renovation /addition of over 3000 parking spaces, renovation of Forest and McKenny Malls, creation of Ford and Putnam Malls, as well as renovations to many of the campus housing complexes based on the housing master plan prepared by BRI.

On a more detailed level, BRI prepared a campus wide Pavement Evaluation to assist the University in budgeting and maintaining the campus roads and parking lots, as well as an overall campus lighting master plan. Currently, BRI is assisting the university on mapping their existing utility systems, and preparing recommendations for improvements to their storm sewer system.
